What we do

Our Bears, cushions and quilts can be made from almost any kind of clothing or other fabric such as baby blankets or bedding. Their purpose is to ensure that any outgrown baby or childrens clothing, or garments from loved ones who have passed away are re-purposed into a beautiful keepsake that will forever remind you of the bond that you shared.

All the photos you can see here in our store are taken from items that have been made for customers and each item is one of a kind.

Hello, Nice to meet you!

Hello! I am Elaina and I started sewing as a hobby over 40 years ago, making clothes and soft furnishings for my family and friends. I started Shugglebears at the end of 2023 when I made my first keepsake bear after a request from a friend.

Each bear, keyring, cushion and quilt encapsulates a family's story, making it a cherished memento that celebrates the sentimental connections between people and their memories.

I thoroughly enjoy the creative element of making something so unique and sentimental for you, my customer. Each bear is made out of the garments sent to me, so, until I receive the parcel and see what fabric, colours, textures and patterns I am working with, I never know quite what the end product will look like, and I like that challenge!

I am so appreciative of the trust bestowed on me, because I know these are the items that hold the very precious memories for you, my customers. It is my mission to provide a service that encapsulates the essence of your cherished memories, ensuring that each item I create holds a special place in your heart.

I promise to always take the utmost care with your items. I like to carefully select the placement and balance of patterns and colours, especially when constructing your Shugglebear or ShugglePaw, so each keepsake is truly unique, even when I make multiples from the same items, each one will be different from its sibling. Unless otherwise requested, I will return all unused fabric back to you with your completed order.

I am always on the lookout for new challenges and when I get the opportunity, I do test out new patterns or ideas to help grow my product selection. In addition to recently adding cushions, quilts and keyrings to my inventory, my most recent addition is the cute memory keepsake dog I have named ShugglePaw*. Just like the original Shugglebear*, this keepsake looks particularly good with different fabris, creating the patchwork effect that you see on all my creations and is also so enjoyable to make
